Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 1, 2026

The short version: Docly reads your documents to answer your questions, with citations. We encrypt your files, we never use them to train any AI model, we never sell or share them, and you can delete them permanently at any time. This page explains exactly how that works.

1. Information we collect

We collect the information needed to run your account and make Docly work:

2. How we handle your documents

This is the part most people care about most, so we're being specific:

What we don't do: we don't read your documents for any purpose other than answering your questions about them. We don't scan them for advertising, and we don't hand them to anyone outside the handful of service providers listed below who are strictly necessary to run Docly.

3. How we use information

We use the information above to:

We do not use your documents, questions, or answers to serve you ads, and we do not build advertising profiles based on your content.

4. AI processing & third-party providers

To answer your questions, the relevant contents of your document are sent to Anthropic's Claude API for processing, and the answer is returned to you with citations back to the source pages. This happens over an encrypted connection.

Your content is never used to train AI models — not by Docly, and not by our AI provider. Documents are processed only to generate your answer, not retained by the model provider for training purposes.

We rely on a small number of trusted infrastructure providers to run Docly:

ProviderPurpose
Anthropic (Claude API)Reads document content to generate cited answers
SupabaseStores your account, encrypted documents, and usage data
NetlifyHosts the Docly website and application
StripeProcesses subscription payments

Each of these providers is contractually bound to use your data only to provide their service to us — not for their own independent purposes.

5. Do we share your information?

We do not sell your personal information or your documents. We do not share them with advertisers or data brokers. We only share information with the service providers listed above, and in these limited situations:

6. How we protect your information

No online service can guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a data breach affecting your information, we will notify you in accordance with applicable law.

10. Children's privacy

Docly is not directed at, and is not intended for use by, children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
